Due to the Labor Day holiday, CBS Sports coverage of the US Open tennis tournament preempted the entire CBS daytime lineup. This preemption was planned and there will be no lost episodes. Regular programming will resume on Tuesday, September 2nd and pick up where Friday, August 29th's episode concluded.
At Marone Industries, Ridge made a surprising announcement to Clark, Sally and Massimo. He told them that he had plans to transform Spectra Fashions into a more competitive company. Ridge explained that he planned to hire a CEO who had experience working in the international market. Ridge then brought Brooke into the room and explained that she is the only person for the job. Sally told Ridge that she was horrified and that Brooke would never run her company. To Sally's horror, Ridge suggested that the company's name be changed to Logan Designs.
At the courthouse, Rick and Amber, Macy and Deacon appeared before a judge. This judge told Macy that he is a big fan of hers. Macy pointed out that she is no longer Macy Alexander, she is Mrs. Deacon Sharpe. The judge explained that before he could grant custody of Little Eric to either couple, he would need to interview them all first. The judge advised that he would be trying to determine what is in the best interest of Little Eric.
Back at Marone Industries, Sally made it clear to everyone that she did not want Brooke at Spectra Fashions. Massimo tried to reason with Ridge to no avail. Ridge threatened that if Brooke did not work there, the two of them would start a separate company. Because Sally was so stressed, she collapsed. Clark and Massimo called the rescue with the belief that she might be suffering from another heart attack.
In the judge's chambers, Amber and Rick plead their case as to why they should remain Little Eric's parents. Deacon interrupts them to defend himself, but after an outburst from Amber, the judge throws them all out of his office to make his decision. Deacon's lawyer tells Deacon and Macy that Amber's outburst won't help Amber's case. Rick and Amber's lawyer tells them that they can do nothing but wait. The judge calls them back in to his office, where he has made a decision.
Massimo warns Brooke that if anything happens to Sally, he will hold Brooke responsible. Ridge defends Brooke and argues that it was his decision to give Brooke the company. Massimo leaves to visit Sally at the hospital. Brooke, Ridge and Nick wait for news of Sally's condition. Nick asks the two of them if it was worth it. Ridge tries to tell him that it was a business decision, but Nick is sure that it was a decision that helped Ridge's love life as well.
In the ambulance on the way to the hospital, Sally reveals to Clarke that she faked the heart attack to get sympathy from Massimo and to buy time. At the hospital Clarke tries to tell Sally that she can't fool the monitors. Massimo enters and Sally pretends to be asleep. Massimo tells Clarke that he didn't know of Ridge's plans. Massimo sits at Sally's bedside and hold her hand, promising to get Sally all the treatment that she needs, and assuring her that Ridge won't get away with taking her company. After Massimo leaves, Sally jumps out of bed and dances around, thinking her plan has worked. Massimo unexpectedly comes back in and wonders what is going on.
In Ridge's office, Brooke had second thoughts about accepting his offer to become CEO of Logan Designs, otherwise known as Spectra Fashions.
In Sally's hospital room, Massimo discovered that Sally had faked her heart attack. Massimo was livid with Sally for doing such a thing. Sally tried to reason with Massimo of what was to happen at Spectra-Brooke becoming CEO. Clarke and Sally reminded Massimo that when he thought Sally did have a heart attack, he believed it was wrong for Brooke to become CEO of Spectra. Massimo remained angry with Sally. He completely turned against her in favor of Brooke. Sally warned Massimo that if he allows Brooke to come near Spectra Fashions, he will live to regret it.
At the courthouse, the judge granted Deacon and Macy custody of Little Eric. The judge justified his decision by explaining that Deacon is Eric's biological father, and this is what is in Eric's best interest. Amber desperately pleaded with judge to reconsider his decision to no avail.
Amber was grief stricken over losing Eric. She worried that Eric would believe that she and Rick have deserted him. While alone with Eric, Amber told him that he would have to go to Deacon's house immediately. Eric cried that he did not want to go to Deacon's. Amber wrote Rick a goodbye note, then took off with Eric. Rick arrived home to discover that Amber took off with Eric. Rick was unable to put off Deacon and Macy. He had to tell them that Amber fled with Eric. When Amber called, Rick and Deacon begged her to return. Amber ignored both of them. Deacon notified the police that Amber had kidnapped Eric.
Back in Ridge's office, Massimo informed Ridge and Brooke that Sally had faked the heart attack. Ridge asked Brooke to make love to him-right in his office. He wanted Brooke to demonstrate a commitment to him by doing so. They admitted to one another that they no longer want to be apart from each other any longer. Brooke and Ridge made love in his office.
