Fans of The Young and the Restless character Tessa Porter and her portrayer, Cait Fairbanks, were devastated to hear a rumor this week that both were being cut from the canvas of the CBS soap opera. But Soap Central can report that the upsetting rumor isn't true: Tessa is staying put in Genoa City.
Sources reveal that Fairbanks is actively working on set at Y&R, and there's plenty more material to come for her singer-songwriter alter ego and the relationship she has with Mariah (Camryn Grimes). In fact, Fairbanks herself took to social media to dispute the news that she had been let go from the daytime drama, writing that the reports are "just a rumor."

As for what's ahead for Tessa, viewers of the show recently saw her and Mariah work through some serious trust issues after Tessa blackmailed several prominent Genoa City women over J.T.'s (Thad Luckinbill) death. The case eventually fell apart once everyone learned J.T. was alive, which leaves Tessa free to focus on her music career.
Fairbanks took on the role of Tessa, initially described as an "upbeat, free-spirited singer with a strong intuition about people," in the spring of 2017. Fairbanks received a Daytime Emmy nomination last year. Tessa's musical talents may have taken a backseat in recent months, but fortunately for fans, the same can't be said for Fairbanks' real-life musical talents. The actress/singer recently released new music under the stage name "Ginesse," which fans can learn more about here.
