Deep depression [early 1990]

Terry Randolph was Elizabeth Webber's best friend and crush when she was twelve years old. Terry and Liz had had a brother/sister type friendship, and Liz had admired Terry's perfect family. Liz had also fondly recalled Terry referring to her as "Biz" because Liz had always been busy getting into trouble. Liz and Terry had lost touch when Liz's parents had packed up the family and moved away. Terry confessed that it had plunged her into a deep depression.
On June 29, 2018, Liz was shocked when she received a text message from Terry. A few weeks earlier, Franco had reached out to Terry when he'd been working on a guest list for his wedding to Liz. Franco had assumed that Terry was a woman until Liz had opened up about the first kiss that she had shared with Terry. He worried that Terry had contacted Liz because Terry intended to steal Liz away, but Liz dismissed Franco's concerns. Later that evening, Liz answered a knock at the door. A beautiful, tall woman with long black hair greeted her. It was Terry.
After Liz recovered from her surprise, she invited her childhood friend inside, and the two picked up where they had left off. Elizabeth introduced Terry to her three sons and Franco. Franco was taken aback to realize that Terry was a woman, because he knew that Terry had once been a boy. Terry confessed that she'd been afraid to reach out to Liz because she'd been afraid of rejection. Terry confided that her parents hadn't been accepting of Terry's decision to transition, and Terry's brother had stopped talking to her.
Liz and her family welcomed Terry into their lives with open arms. To Terry's delight, Liz invited Terry to spend the Fourth of July with her family. Liz was excited when Terry revealed that she had moved to Port Charles and taken a job at General Hospital in the Oncology Department. Terry and Liz continued to bond as Terry settled into life in Port Charles.
In October 2018, Terry began to treat Oscar Nero, who had been diagnosed a couple of years earlier with an inoperable malignant brain tumor. The aggressive cancer was deadly, so Terry signed Oscar up for experimental treatment. Initially, Oscar balked at undergoing treatment, but with the support of his friends and family, Oscar agreed to fight the cancer. Unfortunately, Oscar's treatment did not shrink the tumor, but Terry pointed out that the tumor hadn't grown.
In March 2019, Terry was on hand when Liz's husband of just a few short hours confessed to murdering several people. It was a ruse to draw out the real killer, but Terry proved to be a true friend when she stood by Liz throughout the ordeal.
