Saul Feinberg is the namesake grandson of Saul Feinberg, who was a tailor at knockoff fashion design house Spectra Fashions until his death in 1996. Young Saul, who also became a tailor, received a call from Shirley Spectra, the sister of Spectra's infamous original owner, Sally Spectra, and interviewed with Sally's namesake grand-niece, Sally Spectra. Saul immediately crushed on Sally and struggled to help her put her first line into production, whose success was necessary to keep the dilapidated Spectra Fashions from the wrecking ball. Saul also recommended his friend, Darlita, for Spectra's receptionist position. When the one fashion reporter who attended Sally's showing wrote a scathing review, Saul was ready to hang up his tape measure until Shirley suggested planting Sally's sister, Coco Spectra, as a spy at upscale competitor Forrester Creations, since the original Spectra Fashions was notorious for stealing designs from Forrester.
Saul was jealous of Sally's attention to Forrester designer Thomas Forrester and listened when Sally admitted that she and Coco were raised by Shirley because their parents had run afoul of the law on the carnival circuit. On Shirley's suggestion, Saul planted a camera in Coco's necklace so he could view Forrester designs. Saul disapproved when Sally flew to Australia as Thomas' date for the wedding of his sister, Steffy Forrester, and sided with Shirley after Sally lost her resolve about stealing from Forrester because of Thomas.
Saul happily retooled Forrester's designs after Shirley successfully badgered Sally into breaking up with Thomas. Saul marveled at Spectra's positive reception at their showing and took orders right on the runway, but Saul paled when Sally confessed to grand larceny and industrial espionage to keep Coco from having to testify. Saul was genuinely grateful when Thomas spoke to the judge on Sally's behalf at her preliminary hearing, which saved her from a jail term of up to 15 years. With Spectra finished, Saul offered to accompany Sally out of Los Angeles, but his jaw dropped when Thomas invested $100,000 in the company to keep Sally's cousin, C.J. Garrison, from selling Spectra to publishing magnate Bill Spencer, who wanted to replace Spectra with a skyscraper and personally wrote Sally's vicious review to reach his goal. Saul celebrated with Shirley, Darlita, and Coco by dancing in a conga line.
Saul continued to be jealous of Thomas, but worked with him to produce a swimwear line which Spectra would put up against Forrester in a fashion duel in Monte Carlo. The showing went well, but Saul couldn't understand why Thomas suddenly took off to be with his ex, Caroline Spencer, and their toddler son, Douglas Forrester. Saul helped Sally mount a preview of her own designs which was marred only be a small fire caused by a faulty electrical socket. Returning with Sally and the others to pull an all-nighter before Spectra's big fashion show, Saul watched helplessly as the building burned to the ground. Saul grudgingly welcomed what he thought was Thomas' homecoming but felt for Sally when Thomas again abandoned her to be with Caroline. Later, Saul was confused when Sally became the owner of the burned-out Spectra and began restoring it, but refused to say who had made it possible.
After it turned out Bill owned the building after all, Saul joined Sally and her new benefactor, Liam Spencer, in taking part in a sit-in to prevent its demolition. But Saul and the others ran when a nearby building exploded; Saul was horrified to turn around and discover Liam and Sally had gone back into the building, becoming trapped in its rubble when Bill destroyed it prematurely. Saul stood with Spectra in refusing to let Bill finance their relocation and new start though they ultimately accepted; when Bill reneged on his promise, Saul accompanied a furious Sally to a firing range and agreed that Bill deserved a bullet.
Afterwards, Saul disappeared from the canvas. Thomas came back from New York and offered bring Saul, Darlita, and Shirley there along with Sally; given Sally returned to L.A. dumped and alone, it is unclear whether Saul is living on the West or East Coast.
