Lauren Woodland brings Brittany back to The Young and the Restless

Real-life attorney Lauren Woodland is stepping back into the shoes of her The Young and the Restless alter ego Brittany Hodges.

We're fairly certain fans won't have any objections to the latest casting news from The Young and the Restless: the CBS soap opera is bringing Lauren Woodland back as Brittany Hodges.

While the soap is keeping mum about the storyline details that bring about her return this time around, she's likely dropping by to lay down the law. After all, Brittany is an attorney who played a part in Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Victor's (Eric Braeden) 2018 custody battle over Christian and later helped Nick when Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) arrested him for impersonating J.T. (Thad Luckinbill).

Funny enough, Woodland could go toe-to-toe with her Y&R character in a courthouse: the actress became a real-life attorney after leaving the soap opera in 2005. And that was just the thing that piqued the writers' interest after she appeared for the show's 45th anniversary last year.

"The way I heard it, they were writing some scenes where there was going to be a lawyer needed, and because I had just been on the show, and everybody knew I'm an attorney, they were like, 'Hey, why don't we have Lauren do it?''' she shared with Soap Central at the time. "So that was very flattering and sweet. It made me very happy that they thought of me and wanted me to come back."

Watch for the Y&R alum to reprise her role once more on Monday, February 18.
