Steve Burton will be blasting back onto the General Hospital scene on Tuesday, September 19, and the actor shares that he's more than thrilled to return to the show he considers home. In fact, he's so ecstatic to be back in Port Charles, he doesn't anticipate that he'll be going anywhere anytime soon.
"I'm there long-term," he promises in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. "This is not stunt casting, for me to be there for a month and leave. At all."
As fans may recall, Burton chose to walk away from his several-decade run on GH back in 2012, which he says was "one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make in my entire life." He later went on to star as The Young and the Restless' Dylan McAvoy for four years, but he recently made the choice to return to GH.
"The emotional attachment I have to the show, to the people, to the crew, to everyone there, was obviously a gigantic part of my decision-making," he says of what prompted him to come back to the ABC soap. "Now I'm like, ‘Man, I am so blessed just to be able to go back to a show that I grew up on. And hopefully [I'll] finish there."
