The Lifetime cable channel will air a biography of General Hospital star Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) as part of its Intimate Portrait series. The program will explore the highs and lows of Francis' life, not just her experience on GH. Among the sometimes shocking and always very personal revelations is an admission by Francis that she suffered from drug and alcohol addiction during the height of the Luke and Laura phenomenon in the 1980s.
"I knew the first time I took a hit of cocaine that I had a problem," Francis admits during the program. "The pain was numbed and all I knew was: 'Wow! I've got to get more of this.' "
The biography also features interviews with some of Francis' past and present co-stars, including Tony Geary (Luke Spencer), Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin), Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer) and Donna Mills, who co-starred with Francis in the tele-film Bare Essence. Also featured are former GH executive producer Gloria Monty, and Francis' actor/director husband, Jonathan Frakes.
Intimate Portrait: Genie Francis firsts airs on November 5th at 7pm [Eastern] on Lifetime. Consult your local listings for the channel in your area.
