Days of our Lives fans have been somewhat uneasy ever since the NBC soap announced a major behind-the-scenes shakeup in early April. The fallout was almost immediate: four popular stars were let go. It was said that there could be even more exits to follow.
In early May, rumors surfaced that long-time Days of our Lives vet Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) might be the big-name star to be cut from the cast.
At the time, Soap Opera Digest reported that Reckell had been "quietly informing castmates" that he would be exiting the show. The reason? Reportedly, Reckell was asked to take a salary cut -- just several years after he'd agreed to take as much as a 45% pay reduction.
While Reckell has remained quiet on the matter, his wife, Kelly Moneymaker, took to Twitter to offer her take on the situation.
"Hard to say goodbye to characters who've been on 4ever!! Hard 2 believe Bo will be one of those shortly," Monkeymaker wrote.
A Days of our Lives spokesperson has not commented on Reckell's contract talks except to say, "We hope that Peter stays with Days of our Lives."
Reckell originated the role of Bo Brady in 1983. He later left the show in 1987, before returning again from 1990 to 1992. His most recent return began in 1995 and is currently ongoing.
