Congratulations are in order for The Bold and the Beautiful. For the first time in the CBS soap's 32-year history, B&B landed at number one in the key Women 25-54 demographic. But it wasn't just for the soaps.
For the week of August 5-9, 2019, the half-hour soap opera topped the all-important demo among all daytime programming -- which includes soaps, game shows, and talk shows.
B&B also racked up another first. For the week of July 29 to August 2, 2019, B&B finished first among all daytime dramas with women 18 to 49 -- also for the first time ever. The CBS soap remained atop the rankings for the week of August 5-9.
As if that wasn't enough, The Bold and the Beautiful also notched its largest audience in almost four months.
What was happening to boost B&B to the top of the charts? In story, B&B's Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) learned that their presumed-dead daughter, Beth, was alive and being raised by Liam's former love Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).

The 18-49 category breakdown as a whole was: B&B at 327,000 viewers; The Young and the Restless at 315,000 viewers; General Hospital at 308,000; and Days of our Lives at 246,000.
In a final ratings note, B&B's ratings were steady compared to the same week in 2018 -- a good measure in this age of DVRing, cable cutting, and binge watching. It is important to note that the ratings figures do not include online viewing. As such, a complete total for the number of people watching B&B (or any of the soaps) is not known.
What do you think about B&B topping the women aged 18-49 demographic for the first time in its history? What do you think made the Hope/Steffy/Liam/Baby Beth storyline so compelling?
