The Bold and the Beautiful is mourning the loss of Carol Channing, the Broadway star who made an unforgettable appearance on the CBS soap opera back in 1993.

The publicist for beloved Broadway star Carol Channing announced this week with "extreme heartache" that the Washington native passed away from natural causes. Following the news, The Bold and the Beautiful honored the 97-year-old actress with a heartfelt tribute message.

The Tony Award-winning and Golden Globe Award-winning actress is known for roles like Dolly Levi in the stage production of Hello, Dolly! and Muzzy in the 1967 film Thoroughly Modern Millie, but she made a guest-starring appearance on B&B as herself back in 1993.

"All of us at The Bold and the Beautiful mourn the loss of our friend, the legendary star, Carol Channing," the show tweeted along with a photo of the actress with B&B star John McCook (Eric Forrester). "She was a true original and there will never be anyone like her. Ms. Channing appeared as herself on B&B in 1993. May she rest in peace."

Some of Channing's other stage credits include Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Vamp, Lorelei, and Showgirl. Her television credits include The Ed Sullivan Show, Hollywood Squares, The Nanny, and a 1966 TV special titled An Evening with Carol Channing.

Channing was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame in 1981 and received a Special Tony Award in 1995. She continued to perform and make appearances well into her 90s, singing songs from her repertoire and sharing stories with fans, cabaret style. She released an autobiography, Just Lucky I Guess, in 2002, and a documentary film about her career titled Larger Than Life was released in 2012.

Former soap star Michael Park (ex-Jack Snyder, As the World Turns) also honored Channing on social media: "Met Ms. Channing for the first time in 1995. Her embrace and kind words echoed in my thoughts for over two decades. What a wonderful ambassador we had for our community."
