Zach Roerig, known to soap opera fans as One Life to Live's Hunter Atwood and As the World Turns' Casey Hughes, found himself in big trouble over Memorial Day weekend. According to TMZ, the The Vampire Diaries star was busted for DUI.
Law enforcement sources tell the outlet that Roerig was caught driving under the influence in his hometown of Montpelier, Ohio, after officers noticed that the actor's pickup truck did not have a front license plate and pulled him over. While talking to Roerig, the officer allegedly noticed bloodshot eyes, the smell of alcohol, and slurred speech. That led to some field sobriety tests, which the actor failed.
Roerig was charged with a misdemeanor DUI and spent the night in a holding cell. TMZ reports that he was eventually released on his own recognizance and that his arraignment is set for June 4.
Zach Roerig played the role of ATWT's Casey from 2005 to 2007 before going on to play OLTL's Hunter for a brief period in 2007. After leaving the world of daytime, Roerig took on roles in shows like Friday Night Lights and The Vampire Diaries. He recently joined William Hurt, Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Max Gail (Mike Corbin, General Hospital) in the thriller film The Last Full Measure.
