Fans would give their left arms -- and probably their right -- for All My Children to be revived, and while ABC insists that that dream remains a possibility, for now, soap fans will have to settle on reliving the magic via interviews with the show's former stars. For instance, Jennifer Bassey recently opened up about how playing Pine Valley pariah Marian Colby was one of the most gratifying roles of her career.
"I loved All My Children," she tells Digital Journal of the show on which she starred on-again, off-again from 1983 until the soap's cancellation in 2011. "The best thing about being in a long-term series, which is very rare, is that you know the character and you know the people that you are working with. It's comfortable and each time it's like going back to your family to visit. That's what it was like."
She especially loved working with the late David Canary (ex-Adam Chandler), which she describes as "the best gift" ever. "I thought the man was a great actor and a wonderful human being," she shares. "He was the sweetest, most considerate professional. I couldn't say enough good things about him."
Another AMC alum that Bassey raves about is Tamara Braun (ex-Reese Williams, AMC; ex-Kim Nero, General Hospital; ex-Ava Vitali, Days of our Lives), who she recently worked with in the film Kombucha Cure, which follows two corporate executive enemies at a health insurance company who are sent to a small town to investigate what the company views as the unusual and expensive longevity of some of their clients with cancer.
"I loved working with Tamara Braun. I think she is the most wonderful person," Bassey enthuses, adding, "I do a Hungarian accent in this film, which I taught myself via the Internet. One of the makeup people, who is of Hungarian descent, told me that I sounded just like her grandmother. I hope they edit it brilliantly because there is not one single bad performance. All the actors have done a terrific job, which makes me feel very happy."
