All My Children fans, already jittery about the proposed online future of their favorite soap, were devastated by a recent interview in which Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart) seemingly indicated that she'd decided not to continue with All My Children when it moves online under production from Prospect Park.
"I know some people that are dying to do the online thing. They need the work, they love the people," Minshew told the Hollywood Reporter last month. "Some people just started on the show and they are not ready to leave. There are others who are a little bit older and who want to do the online thing. Then, there are others like myself that have had a good run and are ready to move on."
Minshew has since gone on to clarify her statements, saying that the Hollywood Reporter article - which was conducted before Minshew was contacted by Prospect Park -- didn't quite convey the sentiment that she wanted. The Emmy-nominated actress has also assured fans that she very much wants to remain a part of the All My Children family.
"I am interested in being a part of it," Minshew clarified in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. "I am not giving up on the show. Absolutely not. I don't want anyone to think that I would ever give up on the show. I mean, if I just walked away and said, 'No, thank you,' to Prospect Park that would be one thing, but what I've said is, 'I am open to being a part of this, if you can make it work for me and my family.'"
What needs to be worked out is Minshew's desire to return to the East Coast where her husband, Richie Hershenfeld, owns and operates several restaurants.
Minshew has hopes that she can remain with the Internet-based All My Children on a recurring basis - appearing on-screen for several months and then being allowed to take some time off to spend with her husband and daughter, Willow.
Though no deal has been reached yet, Minshew has remained hopefully, noting that she has her "fingers crossed" that things work out. The actress added that the Prospect Park execs that she's talked to "get it [and] understand about family."
Alicia Minshew assumed the role of Kendall Hart in January 2002.
To date, Prospect Park has announced deals with two All My Children stars, Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) and Lindsay Hartley (Cara Castillo).
